To schedule a consultation, you can contact us through our website, via email, or by phone. We'll guide you through the booking process and answer any additional questions you may have about our services or your specific needs.
-
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we ask that you give us as much notice as you can (48 hours minimum) as that will allow us to offer the appointment time to another person in need. You may be charged a cancellation fee should you cancel at short notice (such as under 48 hours). If the cancellation is a result of a truly unforeseen and unpreventable reason, such as an emergency or illness, you should discuss this with your treating psychologist.
Cancellation Policy: At Mental Health Care Psychology we require at least 48 hours notice for any rescheduled appointment or cancellations. The following fees may apply:
Cancellation under 48 hours prior to appointment: 50% fee per session. Cancellation under 24 hours prior to appointment: Full fee per session. Non-attendance: Full fee charged for clients who fail to attend an appointment.
Please note that we cannot apply Medicare rebates to any of the late cancellation/non-attendance fees.
-
If you miss an appointment you may be charged a non-attendance fee. In such circumstances we often cannot offer that timeslot to another person in need. If your non-attendance was due to an emergency or illness, you should discuss this with your treating psychologist as soon as you are able to.

We understand there are a variety of financial hardships many of our community members are facing currently, and we work very hard to ensure every session is rewarding, above expectations and excellent value for money. Often times, case consultation, session preparation, contact with relevant third-parties and other planning routinely takes place before and after sessions. This means it is not financially viable for us to bulk bill sessions.
-
Session times vary dependent on the service. Please consult our Fees & Policies page for more information about session lengths.
-
If you have a mental health disorder you and your doctor can create a plan to treat it, just ask them at your next consult. Your health information and treatment plan will be private and can only be shared with your agreement. This plan will let you claim up to 10 individual and 10 group sessions with a mental health professional each calendar year. There are Medicare rebates available for these sessions, which makes psychological services much more affordable. If you wish to claim Medicare rebates for any of our services, please ensure you have an active Mental Health Treatment Plan, and that your GP has completed a referral letter to our service, and that these are brought to your session prior to billing. Please be aware there can be reasons why we cannot process medicates at the time of your appointment, which can range from: required paperwork not being complete or having incorrect details, treatment plans are expired, available rebates have already been claimed for the year, etc. Please contact our clinic if you would like more information.
-
No, you can access our services without a referral. However, if you wish to claim Medicare rebates you will need to obtain a referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan from your doctor. Without a referral, rebates may be available from most private health funds. This can be especially handy if you have, for instance, already used all available Medicare rebates in any calendar year and wish to continue accessing support. We recommend you check with your health insurer to confirm you can claim private health fund rebates for psychological services.
